JN-AN-1150 Solar Powered Wireless Sensors
Minimal-maintenance outdoor wireless sensor networks are often run from batteries as a system requirement, removing the need for a power supply infrastructure and allowing more flexible node placement. This requires the battery energy to be replenished through the scheduled replacement of non-rechargeable batteries or using outdoor energy sources.
This Application Note presents an efficient system for harvesting solar energy using an MSX01F Solarex solar panel to charge two NiMH AA rechargeable batteries, which are periodically monitored using a Jennic JN5148 wireless microcontroller.
