4: ZigBee Applications > Application Endpoints

Application Endpoints

This page recaps the concept of an application instance as an endpoint.

From a network point-of-view, each application instance running on a node is a unique network entity where messages can originate and terminate. This entity is termed an endpoint.

Each node can have 240 user endpoints, numbered 1 to 240, the endpoint addresses. A particular endpoint in the network is identified by means of the network address of the host node and its endpoint address on the node.

Note The endpoint address 255 can also be used to broadcast a message to all the user endpoints on a node.

Note The endpoint address 0 on each node is reserved for the ZDO (ZigBee Device Objects).
