Asset Managment

Tracking and monitoring valuables the smart way...

Asset Management

Asset Management plays an important role in many of today’s organisations and industries. Whether it’s in the tracking of raw materials in a warehouse, tracking and monitoring parcels or containers as part of a shipping process, or tracking medical equipment in a hospital, the basic need exists to ‘keep a close eye’ on the assets that hold significant value.

NXP's world-class low-power wireless technology and software provides a comprehensive platform for asset management solutions, offering a low-cost tagging and infrastructure solution for tracking and monitoring valuable assets.

Key applications

  • Equipment tracking in Medical environments such as hospitals
  • Inventory management and monitoring in warehouses
  • Monitoring and tracking parcels in shipping
  • Personnel tracking for security and fire safety
  • Tracking and monitoring in retail

Wireless solution

Our JN51xx wireless microcontrollers, combined with our JenNet-based Active RFID platform, form a wireless connectivity backbone for the solution. The platform utilises a broadcast mechanism for the tagged assets, allowing them to roam freely and to ‘check-in’ with the periodicity required by the application.

The JN51xx wireless microcontrollers are feature-rich devices that, in addition to an IEEE802.15.4-compliant 2.4GHz radio and 32-bit CPU, contain a wealth of on-chip peripherals to support your application needs. These include 21 GPIOs, ADC, DAC, PWM, timers, UART and SPI. If you need additional peripherals, then our industry standard I²C port combined with any of the devices from our I²C interface and connectivity portfolio provides an optimal way for you to expand or enhance I/O capabilities to your individual requirements.

Our Active RFID software solution offers unrivalled levels of performance and functionality. The roaming broadcast mechanism of the tags, combined with the ultra-low power consumption of the JN51xx wireless microcontroller, enables multi-year battery to be achieved from a coin cell.

The Active RFID software is developed in-house and is highly optimised to the JN51xx platform. Simple C-based APIs are provided to streamline software development, although in many instances the standard out-of-box configuration will be more than adequate.
