Jennic's asset tracking platform uses IEEE802.15.4 technology to provide a robust, active RFID solution with long tag battery life. The tags send their data, which can include sensor values such as temperature and humidity, to fixed readers and then through a gateway into an enterprise system.
The tags use a broadcast mode to transmit their data periodically, ensuring that battery life is maximised, since tags can roam between readers without any energy penalty. Using Jennic's own JenNet protocol stack, readers can be networked together.
The 64-bit MAC ID of each tag allows unique identification of goods on business premises or throughout the supply chain. Adopting Jennic's ready-to-use platform allows developers to implement their own solution easily, with short time-to-market. Demonstration code is available on request.
