The XAUI (10 Gigabit Attachment Unit Interface) standard is used in Ethernet applications to extend the reach of XGMII (10 Gigabit Media Independent Interface) connections to include board-board applications. It is intended for use in applications such as 10G Ethernet MACs. It uses four self-clocked serial differential links in each direction to achieve 10 Gbps data throughput using a much lower pin count than the XGMII. The XAUI Interface implements XGXS (XAUI Extender Sublayer) functions by converting between the internal XGMII and the external XAUI interfaces. Jennic’s XAUI Interface provides a complete interface solution including the external off-chip interface, including the IO cells and SerDes, and the Physical Coding Sublayer. Block Diagram
